Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of episode 3 show why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the team understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used the foes for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Moreover, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as important members in House Halovar could enable the party enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is marked for death by the family.

This results in them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.

What’s Next?

From episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Seekers and Planners groups.

Viewers can expect learning which players will be where in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
